Our Rainbow Fish
We have made our very own Rainbow Fish after reading the story written by Marcus Prister called The Rainbow Fish. We used stones, paint, foam pieces and google eyes.
My Brolly
After reading a story called 'Molly's Brolly', in which the little girls brolly takes her on different adventures, we started to wonder where our brolly's might take us. Click on the book below to read about our adventures.

PLC Travel Buddy Project
On Thursday one of these special parcels arrived at our school. Inside was Koko the Koala who had travelled all the way from Australia to spend a week with us.
Koko is one of three travel buddies that have been sent off around the world by PLC School in Sydney, Australia. The children have set up a special blog so that they are able to find out what their travel buddies have been up to and learn about different parts of the world at the same time.
We are very excited about having Koko visit us for the week.
Click on the travel buddy link above to see what Koko has been up to since she arrived in our classroom.

Lexie Rose's Writing
Well done Lexie Rose. I like how you worked independently to complete a whole sentence on your own. What a super effort writing the sounds you heard in each word.
I saw the snow on the mountain.

Kyla's marble run
Kyla and her family made a marble run at home by using things out of their recycling bin!
Kyla's mum and brother brought it to school today to share with us all.
We got to work on making a marble run of our own on the other side of Kyla's.
A big thank you to Lisa for leading this activity and we can't wait to complete our run next week.

Sharing our classroom learning at home
What a lovely surprise I had tonight. Remi and his Mum, Anna, sent an audio message of them singing the colour song that we have been learning in class. We love when children share their learning at home. Well done Remi.

Making a Rainbow
We are continuing to explore colour in our classroom. We experimented making a rainbow by using absorbent kitchen towels, food colouring and water. We observed our rainbow forming as the towels absorbed the liquid. Some of the colours mixed to create different shades and colours.

Wee Willie Winkie
We have been learning and sharing nursery rhymes in the Junior Classroom.
Nursery Rhymes are a great way to practise pitch, volume and voice inflection as well as learn about the rhythm of language. We are also increasing our vocabulary and having great fun!

Walking in the Rain
This morning some of us went for a walk in the rain to play centre. The rain drops fell on our umbrellas gently at first and then heavier. We discovered that keeping everybody dry under our umbrellas involved clever thinking and team work!
We enjoyed visiting our play centre friends and loved racing the rain water rushing down the footpath back to school.

Colour experiment
We are exploring colours in our class. Today we did an experiment with M&M's. We put them into water and watched carefully to see what would happen. We learnt that the food colouring that coats the M&M dissolves in the water. The colour from each M&M moved to meet each other. Where the colours met they became darker.
It's Raining! It's Pouring!
What a wet day it turned out to be. We are not use to all this rain her in Central Otago. We decided to use the rain as inspiration for todays writing. Maddie I really like the way you are carefully sounding out words. Well done Remi - super independent writing after only 3 months at school.

Click on the picture below to see a 'step by step' video that will help you learn.
Special Challenge: If you know how to do your shoelaces, then we have a special challenge for you. How fast can you put your shoes on and tie them up? We will have a race on Friday.

Jimmy makes a Happy Clown
Jimmy read the book 'A Happy Clown' this week. He then did the most amazing job of following the instructions in the book to make his own clown. What do you think?
