The Long Jumper

Today we watch some slow motion video footage of long jumpers. We were amazed at how far they went. It looked like some of them were running in mid-air.

Tiddler Stories

We have been reading stories by Julia Donaldson.
We really enjoyed the story about ‘Tiddler’ the story telling fish. Tiddler was always making up stories to explain why he was late to school.
We pretended that we were Tiddler and have written our own stories to explain why we were late. Tiddler would be very proud of our stories.

Puddles

We have had so many wet days lately, so last week we decided to write about the large puddles that were on the netball court.
We have created our puddles by weaving blue dyed paper. Click on the picture to read our writing about puddles.puddles writing

Do you like jumping in puddles or would you rather stay inside on wet days?  Leave a comment and tell us what you like doing on wet days.

Super Writing

Ameile found a bird's nest when we were training for the cross country. Today we looked at some video clips of birds making their nests. We think they are very clever.

Last week we read 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' by Michael Rosen, and watch a video of him performing his story.
We decided to write our own version of the story, illustrate and record it.  Leave us a comment and let us know what you think of the Room 6 version of the story.  We'd love to hear from you.

What Our Teddy Bears Got Up To Last Night .....

Thursday night was the last night our teddy bears spent at school. We suspected they might get up to mischief and we were right. They had a party!   When we arrived at school today there were streamers and balloons all around the place and our teddies were sound asleep on the cushions.

The teddies had a party with streamers and balloons. They played games. The teddies gave mum an e-mail.     By Saul

When I got to school the teddies were having a party. Me and Saul played with them, then everyone came to room six. It was fun.  By Niko

The teddies had a party. They put up streamers and balloons. I think they played musical cushions. I think they played limbo.   By Ellie

I think that my teddy told the other teddies that it was my birthday today.  I had a surprise when I came into the classroom because there were balloons and streamers.      By Niamh

Teddy Sleepover

Some of our teddies stayed at school last night and when we arrived at school this morning they were not where we left them.
During writing time we wrote about what we saw when we arrived at school.
Mrs Kitto was very impressed with effort that our new Year 1 class members put into their writing.  Well done!

The Magic Glove Experiment

Today we did an experiment. We put warm water, vinegar and baking soda into a jar and watched what happened to the liquid and to the glove.

We learnt that the baking soda and the vinegar react with each other and create a gas called carbon dioxide.  The carbon dioxide gas fills up the glove.

Working Hard

As I have wandered around during writing time this week I have been so impressed with the focus and concentration that I have seen. Everyone has been working so hard to sound out words and carefully re-read their writing to make sure it makes sense. I sneakily took out my phone and recorded what I saw. Well done everyone - this week you have all written some wonderfully creative stories.
