Christmas Baking
On Thursday we did some baking and made some Christmas reindeer. Christmas is a time to think about others, so we packaged some of our reindeer into Christmas boxes and gave them to people who are special to us.

Pantomime
Today we had the dress rehearsal for our school pantomime. There was lots of nervous excitement in the classroom before we left to head down to the Clyde Hall.
I hope you all have your tickets for the performances - it's going to be a fantastic show!

Happy Cakes
The 'Bees' reading group have made fantastic progress and they are now reading at level 21. Well done guys! Yesterday's guided reading book was called 'You Can Make A Happy Cake', so today we decided to made "Happy Cakes". The class was divided into four groups and each of the children in the 'Bees' reading group became a leader of one of the groups. It was their job to read the instructions, make sure that the correct amount of ingredients were included in the cakes, and that everyone had a turn at measuring and stirring. When we went to decorate them we realised that we didn't have a sieve, so we improvised and used the small holes a cheese grater. They did a fantastic job and the cakes were delicious!

Halloween Fun
Today Rooms 5 and 6 had a special dress-up day and shared lunch for halloween. We began the day but sneaking in to each classroom and scaring the teachers.
During our reading rotation we each made a 'Mini Me'. We had to decorate a cardboard cut out so that it showed what our costume looked like. We had a yummy shared lunch before playing some balloon games. We all had lots of fun!
What do you think to our fantastic costumes?

Cutting the Jubilee Cake
There was a great turn out for the official Jubilee Assembly today. Well done to Kaiyo, the youngest member of Clyde School, who had the very important role of helping to cut the jubilee cut. He shared this role with Des Paulin who is the oldest past pupil attending the weekend celebrations.

Trip Back In Time - 1863
This weekend is Clyde School's 150 year Jubilee. Today the whole school dressed up in clothes that would have been worn in 1863. The senior school had a school day led by Miss Williams, who ran our "olden days" school day last month.
Our school photos were taken today in our olden day clothes, which was a special way to mark the 150 year jubilee celebrations.
Tomorrow there is a special assembly, starting at 2pm, for everyone who has attended our school. The weekend is going to be full of fun and and a lot of reminiscing for those who have attended Clyde School over the years.

What do you think to Mr White's olden day costume? We loved his "bat-winged" cape. Perhaps he could wear it for halloween next week!

1863 School Day
The junior school went back in time yesterday. We travelled back to 1863 and found out what school life was like. We experienced what it was like to be in classroom in 1863 and had a visiting teacher "Miss Williams" (Rachel Checketts from Central Museum) take our class. She was very strict. We made our own butter and make jam sandwiches which we wrapped up in newspaper. We played old fashioned games like hopscotch, tag, pass the glove and remember the objects.

100 Day Celebrations
100 Day Celebrations
On the last day of Term 2 we celebrated 100 days at school. We had a PJ day and began our celebrations with a shared breakfast of pancakes, fruit, and toast. We did lots of counting to 100 in 1's 2's and 10's.
We thought about what we would like to achieve by the time we are 100 years old and wrote down some of our ideas. We also created ripped paper collages of what we might look like when we are 100 years old. Click on the pictures below to view our artwork and read our 100 ideas.
